Bio
Olivia is a movement artist wielding dance, performance, education, and community-based, accessible events in order to investigate the world and the emotions that accompany our experience. They are interested in movement as a method of connection and transformation. They are also interested in investigating dance as a language. How can movement be used to communicate? In what ways can it be more powerful, or be used to connect even deeper? These are some questions she investigates in her work. When she is not dancing, she can be found biking, having revolutionary conversations with her loved ones, and thinking about how to change the world.
Olivia has a background in global studies, weaving together geography, anthropology, and social sciences. She is also bilingual in French, and sees dance as her third language.
Currently, Olivia studies House, various forms of yoga, and Contact Improvisation, all while teaching students in New Jersey how to use more active methods of transportation. She is continually wowed at how much she learns through CI, a practice of radicality and intimacy, and is currently creating work inspired by all she has learned through practicing it.
